You probably recognise by now that as a Minister, you can't go very far before people ask you to
give grace, to offer a prayer or a blessing or to address some topic, so we invite you to
use the Wednesday Night Meetings to sharpen your skills.
TIME? 20 - 30 minutes.
Do you know the most popular topic? It's one of the easiest to compose and deliver ... the "HOW I GOT HERE" story.
Whether you're an experienced presenter or just want to test the waters, you're welcome to introduce a topic for discussion, to test-run or fine-tune a presentation, relate a life experience or to just dip your toes in the water to become more comfortable with public speaking ... you'll not find a more welcoming and understanding audience than your fellow Ministers. We've all been there!
Following the presentation, depending on the time remaining, we usually have a time of discussion, or announcements, or answer questions participants may ask.
You're free to talk about anything you wish except that which is hurtful of another organization, religion or person and with close to 150 speaking opportunities a year including the Meditation and opening/closing prayers, there's lots of opportunity to start small and progress.
In fact, we encourage you to consider volunteering to speak a part of your continuing education.
TIME? 5 - 7 minutes.
Because we're on a 1-hr. schedule, we offer 5-7 minutes for a Meditation, which is presented at the outset of our meeting.
A lot of our Ministers are cross-trained in Creative Visualization techniques or Hypnotherapy, so feel free to bring your favourite walk through the forest to us.
TIME? 2-3 minutes.
Because we don't follow any specific denomination's dogma, feel free to present the prayers in the style with which you're comfortable. We've enjoyed Buddhist, Islamic, Jewish, Protestant, Catholic and Nature Based prayers, and of course Metaphysical offerings.
We offer thanks at the beginning and the end of each meeting.
